NSW DPI Strategic Plan 2019-2023


DPI plays a key role creating stronger primary industries in NSW.

DPI will achieve this through a focus across nine programs:

  • Maximise our connection with communities,industries and people
  • Increase productivity and profitability of plant and livestock systems
  • Enhance the productive and sustainable use of agricultural resources
  • Protect and enhance the biosecurity of NSW
  • Maximise food safety, animal welfare and market access in NSW
  • Promote the sustainable growth of commercial and recreational fishing, and aquaculture
  • Protect and enhance NSW aquatic resources and environment
  • Manage hunting and the sustainable growth of forestry
  • Drive research and business excellence in DPI.
These will be supported by three key enablers:
  • Invest in our people
  • Invest in tools, technologies and research
  • Invest in relationships.
By 2023, DPI programs and projects will have delivered on these key measures:
  • 29% GVP growth to achieve a Total Primary Industries Output of $19.3 billion by 2023
  • Track community sentiment to build and maintain trust in primary industries
  • 5% increase in stakeholder satisfaction and community awareness
  • 70% employee engagement.
