Our history

ALIC was established in 1996 on the campus of UNE to capitalise on the investment by NSW DPI in the Beef CRC, and later in the Sheep CRC, and to strengthen ties with UNE, CSIRO and MLA research programs in particular.

ALIC has a team of about 30 professional staff, including research scientists, development officers, technical specialists, technicians and students working collaboratively to foster innovation across the entire red meat supply chain. The ALIC team strives to enhance profitability and sustainability in the Australian red meat and livestock industries, approaching multiple and complex community priorities such as climate change risk management and technology development and implementation.
