Sue joined DPI as a Program Coordinator, Science Risk in 2019. She has over 10 years’ experience in tertiary education as a lecturer in biological sciences and researcher in reptile and amphibian ecology and physiology. Sue also has experience in pet nutrition and pet food manufacturing as a product technologist and thermal processing specialist.

Since joining the DPI Chief Scientist’s Branch, Sue has contributed to various programs that identify and manage emerging issues that may impact primary industry in NSW. She is primarily involved with supporting and advising DPI in responding to potential risks to agriculture, fisheries, forestry and food safety. This includes developing effective, evidence-based management strategies and solutions through identifying knowledge gaps and undertaking targeted research, collaborating within DPI and with other government agencies, and consulting with communities, fishers and primary producers.
