Business coaching

2021 Applications are closed

What is it?

This is a chance to improve your farm business acumen. You will be assigned an experienced business coach to work with, to understand your farming business and provide tailored advice to help you achieve your business goals.

Why should I apply?

Business coaching will give you the knowledge and tools you need to get the most out of your farming business. But don’t just take our word for it. We've run farm business coaching in the past and the farmers who took part loved the program.

Am I eligible?

If you’re a farmer, farm manager or farm employee in NSW and you operate or are a key decision maker in the business you’re eligible to apply. Any enterprise can participate, large or small.

What do you get?

You'll get 10 months of business coaching to help you and your farming business. You'll choose what you want to achieve, it's totally your journey.

The project will give you:

  • 1 hour of one-on-one coaching via phone or video every fortnight
  • 10 months of support from your coach
  • Phone and email support from your coach
  • 4 x group coaching workshops
  • 4 x farm tours of participant's farms

Who will be my coach?

You will be assigned an experienced business coach by the NSW DPI. There will be many different business coaches working across NSW for our program and we will match you with a coach that understands your business and what you want to achieve.

What will the business coaching look like?

One on one coaching

Each farm business will receive fortnightly, one-hour, one-on-one coaching sessions with an experienced business coach. These one-on-one coaching sessions will provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to get the most out of your farming business. You can talk about anything with your coach - everything you discuss is confidential.

These one-on-one coaching sessions will be online via Zoom (or similar) or by phone if required. Two people from your farming business can attend these sessions, for example a manager and a staff member, two siblings or a couple.

Group coaching workshops and farm tours

You'll also have four face-to-face meetings with your coach. These meetings will run all day and will include five other farming businesses who are also receiving coaching. The day before your meeting, you'll have a farm tour so you can see how another business in the coaching program, operates. These meetings will be held in different towns across NSW which you'll be required to attend.

You'll get 10 months of business coaching to help you. You'll choose what you want to achieve, it's totally your journey.

When does it start?

Coaching starts in September 2021 and will end in June 2022.

What's it cost?

The program will cost $1,500 including GST. This is a heavily subsidised rate - the NSW DPI and Australian Government's Future Drought Fund are paying for most of the cost of business coaching. We can split this cost across a few invoices if required.

How do I apply?
