YRK5 growing guide

Summary

YRK5 is a semi-dwarf ‘Japanese quality’ short grain variety that is similar in grain quality characteristics to Opus but with shorter growth duration.

The recommendations presented in this Primefact are based on field measurements from experiments conducted in the 2015/16 and 2016/17 seasons and will be further developed as results from more seasons are obtained.

We have little growing data on aerial seeding of this variety but expect lodging may be more severe when the crop is aerial sown compared to drill sown.
