
The Dareton Agricultural Research and Advisory Station is the centre for NSW DPI citrus research. The main research activities focus on new and improved production technologies, irrigation and salinity management and national variety and rootstock evaluation. The station has extensive plantings of citrus and state of the art packing line facilities which support these research activities.
NSW DPI citrus plant health centre is located at the Elizabeth Macarthur Agricultural Institute (EMAI) on the outskirts of Sydney. Key activities in the area of citrus plant health focus on disease testing, diagnosis and management strategies; virus testing, elimination and inoculation and incursion management. EMAI also maintains the Australian Citrus Industry’s citrus repository comprising both virus-free and pre-immunised mother trees.
NSW DPI Extension officers provide technical advice and support to NSW citrus industry organisations and producers in all facets of production. Specialist citrus extension officers are located in the main production regions of NSW including locations at Dareton, Gosford and Griffith.
