STBIFM Program: 2012 - 2019

After nine funding rounds between 2012 and 2019, the Sustaining the Basin Irrigated Farm Modernisation (STBIFM) program has now been completed.

Since STBIFM began in 2012, the program helped recover more than 34 gigalitres of water savings through investment in on farm irrigation system modernisation.

A total of 23.3 gigalitres of water entitlement has been transferred back to the Commonwealth to bolster environmental flows in the Murray Darling Basin, while an additional 10.6 gigalitres has been kept on farm to support agricultural production.
