Communique meeting 17 March 2017

The Biosecurity Advisory Committee (the Committee) held its eleventh meeting on 17 March 2017 via teleconference.

At this special meeting, the Committee:

  • noted project progress and discussed mitigation strategies to address key project risks;
  • discussed the draft Summary of Submissions Report from public consultations of the Regulatory Impact Statement and associated regulations; and importantly;
  • supported the amendments to the proposed Biosecurity Regulation 2016, the Biosecurity Order – Permitted Activities and amendments to other legal instruments ; and
  • noted that the Nature Conservation Council representative did not support making of the Regulation as they believe the proposed regulation does not adequately respond to environmental issues.
