Name:SMARTtrain® Chemical application reaccreditation
Description:A course for people that have previously completed a level 3 chemical applications course and seeking reaccreditation.
Cost:$280 GST-free.
Includes SMARTtrain® card issue.
Course aims:This course will help you apply, transport and store chemicals safely and meet the training requirements of:
  • the NSW Pesticides Regulation 2017 (or equivalent legislation as relevant to your state).
  • those using and exposed to substances that are classified as hazardous substances under the NSW WHS Regulation 2011 (or equivalent legislation as relevant to your state).
  • the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) for those required to use restricted chemicals in NSW.
  • industry quality assurance programs such as Freshcare.
Length:1 day
Course program/structure:
  • Integrated pest and resistance management
  • Legislation in the workplace including recordkeeping requirements
  • Using chemicals according to the label and SDS
  • WHS and the workplace
  • Application equipment and calibration
  • Chemical application including spray plans and drift management and residues
  • Transport, storage and disposal of hazardous chemicals
Resources and method of delivery:Participants will receive the following resources:
  • A reference manual
  • An assessment guide
  • A NSW, QLD or SA State legislation supplement

The SMARTtrain Livestock Supplement, Weed Control Learning and Assessment guide and On Farm Fumigation Learning and Assessment guides are optional extras.

This course is delivered indoors.

Accreditation:This course is mapped to the following national units of competency:
  • AHCCHM303 - Prepare and apply chemicals
  • AHCCHM304 - Transport and store chemicals

NOTE: It is a legislative requirement for people using chemicals unsupervised to be accredited. Your SMARTtrain® accreditation is valid for five (5) years.
