Name:Community engagement - Moving people towards action
Description:Do you have a role in leading or developing collaborative programs, large or small? This course will help identify engagement opportunities and how to make the most of them.       
Cost:This training is subsidised for people managing weeds and pest animals.
Course aims: To support participants in combining skills and knowledge to better engage community to achieve long-term and sustainable pest management outcomes.
Learning outcomes:
  • Design communication materials to gain audience attention
  • Gather information about the various groups within a community including their values, concerns and behaviours
  • Describe common barriers in community engagement and develop strategies to overcome them
  • Develop a framework for an effective community engagement plan.
Length: 2 days
Resources and method of delivery:

Participants will work individually and as a member of a team. Each participant will receive a comprehensive set of notes to assist facilitation.

Accreditation:This course is mapped to the national unit of competency BSBPMG418 - Apply project stakeholder engagement techniques.
