The sounds of music will once again help families affected by drought, when the Sydney Symphony converges in Orange later this year for a special drought recovery benefit concert.
The NSW Department of Primary Industries, the Sydney Symphony, and the Orange City Council have announced details of the concert, scheduled for 22 October at the Orange Civic Theatre.
The Orange performance is part of the Sydney Symphony's 2005 regional tour and is designated as a special Drought Recovery Concert.
It is hoped the concert will raise up to $100,000 which will be donated to local charities that assist drought-affected families in the Orange district.
The all-Beethoven program will feature two of the best-loved works in the orchestral repertoire, Beethoven's Violin Concerto starring the international guest violinist Cho-Liang Lin, and Beethoven's Symphony No. 5.
Tickets are available through Ticketek.
