Fisheries staff on hand at expo to answer all your questions

The NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI) will be on hand to answer all your questions on fishing at the ' South Coast Caravan, Camping and Holiday Expo' to be held at Batemans Bay from November 12 to 14.

DPI will be co-located with Maritime NSW at the Expo being held at McKay Park, on the Princes Highway, at Batemans Bay from 9 am to 5 pm.

A DPI Fisheries Officer, Education Officer and Fishcare Volunteer will staff the DPI display throughout the weekend.

The display will feature the educational mobile unit 'Bluey on Wheels', named after NSW's official State fish the blue groper, which has been fully funded by the Recreational Fishing Saltwater Trust .

DPI Fisheries education officer, Gavin McDonall, said the main aim of Bluey was to help spread the word about how people can all work together to safeguard fish, other aquatic life and the environment.

"We want to make sure that we can preserve the simple pleasure of fishingfor future generations," he said.

There will also be a large DPI Fisheries inflatable boat for inspection by members of the public.

This boat is predominately used for offshore compliance patrols.

Mr McDonall said this was the largest Expo of its kind on the south coast and DPI was very pleased to attend each year.

"We will have loads of advisory material on hand and staff who are keen to answer questions, so we hope people will take the opportunity visit our display," he said.
