NSW Government grants extension for new share managment applications

Commercial fishers have been granted a two-week extension to apply for shares under the State Government's new share management fishery scheme.

The extension will ensure the more than 1300 commercial fishers across NSW have adequate time to prepare their applications and draw together the supporting information required.

Commercial fishers will now have until 5 p.m. on Friday 2 July to lodge their applications.

NSW commercial fishers in the estuary general, estuary prawn trawl, ocean hauling, ocean trawl, and ocean trap and line fisheries recently received application forms, which include details of the type and number of shares for which they may be eligible.

It is essential that fishers carefully check the details on the application form and ensure the form is signed by all the fishing business owners and witnessed by an independent person.

Payment for the application fee and supporting information should also be included when sending the application.

Should fishers wish to discuss any issue in connection with the new share management fishery scheme, or their provisional allocation of shares, they should call NSW Fisheries on 1300 720 662 between 8:30am and 5:30pm, Monday to Friday.

Applications should be sent to:
