Cumberland State Forest to tell story of trees

‘Spirit of the Story’, an event for primary school students focused on the significance of trees and sustainable forest management will be staged at Cumberland State Forest on 25 July to mark Arbor Day.

The theme is the story of trees - an appropriate way of highlighting this international day which celebrates tree planting and care.

Hosted by Forestry Corporation, the activities for year 3 to 5 students will include stories about how trees on farms, in forests and in the local area provide a range of benefits.

The play ‘The story of the eucalypt’, will also be presented.

The event has grown in size, in terms of numbers of participants and presenters.

This year the diversity of stories will be enhanced by displays and sessions conducted by the Department of Primary Industries, Forestry Corporation nurseries and Baulkham Hills Shire Council.
