Forestry Corporation appoints new Monaro Regional Manager

Forestry Corporation has appointed Gavin Jeffries as its new manager in the Monaro Region.

Mr Jeffries started work at Bombala as the Regional Manager on 26 April, returning almost 16 years to the day when he worked in Bombala as a trainee forester.

He was previously Forestry Corporation timber merchandising manager in the Hume Region based at Tumut, working with the customers and contractors around Tumut, Wagga, Albury, north east Victoria and Tumbarumba.

Mr Jeffries will be joined in Bombala in early July by his wife Beth and son Robert.

“Beth is leaving her role as a dietitian at Tumut and is due to have another baby in September,” he said.

Mr Jeffries has been with Forestry Corporation for 16 years and has worked in its major plantation growing areas around the New England tablelands (Glen Innes), Bathurst / Oberon, Tumut and Bombala.

He has worked in site establishment, plantation maintenance, recreation, fire management, road construction, harvesting and sales, and safety.

Mr Jeffries was also very active in the Forest Industry Council based at Tumut and provided a strong contribution to the development of industry safety programs through consultation with the industry, the councils, police and the community.

He said he was much looking forward to living and working in the Monaro region and meeting the local community.

Mr Jeffries is keen on swimming, cycling, tennis, rugby and skiing. His wife is also an enthusiastic tennis player.

“Beth, with young children, is very keen to meet other parents in the Bombala community and join in activities associated with raising youngsters,” Mr Jeffries said.
