Threats to Fishery Resources Program Plan 2014-2018
Objectives
The broad objectives of the Threats to Fishery Resources Program Plan 2014-2018 are to:
- Develop and assess impacts associated with unaccounted fishing mortality
- Provide scientific advice on the management of impacts to marine and freshwater systems from land-derived pollution sources
- Improve our understanding of key aspects of climate variability on marine and freshwater ecosystems
- Investigate priority areas relating to water resource management in freshwater systems
Current projects
Current project in the Threats to Fishery Resources Program Plan are listed below within each of the four research themes; unaccounted fishing mortality, land-derived impacts, climate change, and water resource management.
Unaccounted fishing mortality projects
- Testing selective fishing gears in NSW’s commercial fisheries
Land-derived impacts projects
- Anthropogenic impacts on seagrasses
- Improving our understanding of pressures on the marine environment
Climate change projects
- Novel methods for predicting fisheries recruitment
Water resource management projects
- Orange pipeline impact assessment
- Namoi fish, flows and food
