Boating

The Solitary Islands Marine Park offers magnificent boating. Boats often enter the park from Coffs Harbour marina.

Most of the park's 75 km stretch of coastline borders national parks, nature reserves or a regional park.

Some of the state's most pristine estuaries are found in the park's northern section.  Boating here is excellent.

  • Surrounded by Yuraygir National Park, the estuaries are home to a range of marine and bird life.
  • The mangrove forests, the sheltered bays and the untouched riverine environment are best explored by canoe or kayak.

Things you need to know

A marine park permit is required to install or relocate a mooring in Solitary Islands Marine Park

A suite of public moorings are provided close to the islands.

  • Vessels can moor for the day to enjoy the serenity and go diving or snorkelling.
  • Note that most moorings are in sanctuary zones and fishing is not permitted.

All boat operators are strongly advised to check weather conditions prior to and during boating activities and to advise local Marine Rescue services of your intentions in case of emergencies.
