Meaghan Duncan
Meaghan is a Freshwater Fish Ecologist with a background in molecular ecology and freshwater fish ecology.
Since joining NSW DPI in 2007, Meaghan has led a broad range of projects including assessment of fish community condition, fish passage, fish response to environmental watering, conservation genetics, environmental DNA ageing and otolith microchemistry. She is currently leading the implementation of environmental DNA technology into NSW DPI Fisheries’ research portfolio that will allow researchers to monitor populations of threatened species using water samples as a source of DNA. She is also Project Manager of the FishGen Program, a collaborative project across five states/territories that is using genetic parentage testing to identify stocked fish in wild populations.
