Senior Project Lead Agtech Applications
Biography

Ian's current work is focused on developing pathways for increasing Agtech adoption with a key focus on data quality and integration opportunities in the NSW Agtech ecosystem.

After completing research at The University of Sydney focusing on assimilating remote sensing into crop models for wheat yield estimation, Ian moved into the role of Remote Sensing Specialist within the NSW Department of Primary Industries in 2021.

During this time, Ian led the development, planning and deployment of the Seasonal Conditions Monitoring Network.  This network collects agrometeorological and hydrological observations to validate and improve the Enhanced Drought Information System (EDIS) and ANUClimate models.

Additional project elements during this time include the refinement of ACCESS-S2 ingestion for EDIS Drought Forecasting, development of remote sensing capture capacity within NSW DPI Climate Branch and a crop yield model prototype.
