Summer Song
Summer is currently working with the Digital Ag team on a project exploring the impact of protective covers on microclimate in cherry orchards.
Summer currently runs the NSW DPIRD protected cropping project in sweet cherries which deploys digital sensors to provide growers with real-time data about growing conditions in the orchard. She has skills and experience in on-farm trials, digital agriculture, precision agriculture, participatory research, adoption, and behaviour change.
Previously, she collaborated with growers growing wine grapes on conducting field trials using precision agriculture tools. She also interviewed many growers growing wine grapes, citrus and almond about their irrigation management, their use of AgTech in assisting with irrigation and the reasons they adopted, or not, AgTech for the management.
