Jianhua Mo
Dr Jianhua Mo is a research entomologist in horticultural crops. Since joining the Department in 2000, he has led/collaborated in 16 research projects on the IPM of citrus and vegetable pests including citrus gall wasp (Bruchopagus fellis), red scale (Aonidiella aurantii), fuller’s rose weevil (Asynonychus cervinus), light brown apple moth (Epipyas postvittana), spined citrus bug (Birporulus bibax), and onion thrips (Thrips tabaci) in onions.
Dr Mo is currently working on field and landscape management to support beneficial arthropods for IPM on Australian vegetable farms and vulnerability assessment of climate change on horticultural crops. Prior to joining NSW DPI, Dr Mo worked on diamondback moth (Plutella xylostella) dispersal and sampling techniques in Brassica crops in SARDI, South Australia, modelling the dieback of eucalypt trees in the CSIRO Division of Entomology in Queensland, and biological control of rubber vine in a weed research centre in Queensland.
Research areas in these projects include pest population dynamics, temperature-dependant development, temporal and spatial distributions, mating disruption, sampling, dispersal, and insecticide efficacy.
Jianhua is based at Yanco Agricultural Institute.
