This Action is improving functional and environmental outcomes at priority sites by contributing funds to progress development of improved fishway designs or by removing obstructions. Addressing instream obstructions significantly improves the resilience of fish populations to future flood events and helps in their recovery within flood affected river systems by improving opportunities to move and access habitat for breeding, feeding and escaping predators.
Current projects include refurbishment of Stroud Weir fishway on the Karuah River, repair of the Marsden Street fish lock on the Parramatta River, and development of detailed designs for a fishway at Jabour Weir on the Richmond River at Casino (banner image above).
