Our facilities & services

OAI has a range site facilities that are accessible to industry and the community including:

  • public conference and meeting facilities for hire;
  • production facilities for use and collaboration;
  • laboratory and diagnostic facilities.

In addition DPI hosts other agencies  staff on site including staff from Central West Local Land Services and  NSW Water.

Facilities for Hire

The OAI has two areas for hire for public use.All facilities include kitchen areas (external catering may be brought in), parking and IT facilities for presentation and remote meetings.  As the OAI is a biosecurity and emergency response site, specific hire conditions apply.

OAI Training Centre is available for hire and can accommodate up to 100-120 participants and can be configured for theatre style, training and workshop layouts. The Centre has a:

  • large training room up for 120 persons
  • small training room for up to 25 persons
The adjacent GATE (Global Ag tech Ecosystem) complex has a:
  • Conference space for up to 50 person theatre style or workshops space for 25 persons;  and
  • Board room space for up to 8 persons.

Production and site facilities for collaboration

The OAI site encompasses a variety of production systems relevant to the  Central West Region.

Our production areas are used for both execution of research activities and commercial production.

  • Orchards:  5ha of irrigated orchards include cherries, apples, walnuts and hazelnuts which reflect production activity in the region.
  • Vineyards : 1.5ha of vineyards including
  • Livestock: approx 1000 sheep which are "research ready" with comprehensive data and biological
  • Pastures : around 50 hectares of pastures

The DPI  also has various laboratories, greenhouses and glass houses to support propagation and production activities. Processing and storage sheds are also available for lease along with office space.

Collection and Diagnostic Services

A variety of opportunities are enabled  via the  OAI's Biosecurity Collections including:

  • Specimen Loans;
  • Accessioning a Specimen;
  • Culture sales;
  • Preservation services and
  • Diagnosic services.
