To move a fire ant carrier out of the 5km NSW fire ant movement control area you must follow the requirements specified in Part 3 of the current Emergency Order.

It’s OK to move a fire ant carrier into or within the 5km zone around South Murwillumbah (the NSW fire ant movement control area).

Record of Movement Declaration

Businesses, organisations and councils moving fire ant carriers out of the NSW fire ant movement control area must complete a Record of Movement Declaration using the online form unless they are moving:

  • cleaned and checked or new and unused agricultural and earth moving equipment
  • grass, vegetation, and clippings including movements as part of the council’s waste management system
  • soil samples

Household residents do not need to complete a Record of Movement Declaration but do need to follow the requirements set out in Part 3 of the current Emergency Order before moving a fire ant carrier.

Organic mulch, soil, compost, and manure

Important

Any person who initiates the movement of a fire ant carrier into NSW from the fire ant infested area must:

provide details of the movement and a copy of the approved biosecurity certificate to the Department by completing and submitting the record of movement declaration form before the fire ant carrier is moved, and retain details of the movement for 4 years.
