Species Protection

How you can help

Report a protected or threatened species

NSW DPI has set up a database to record sightings of protected and threatened species. You can contribute by reporting any sightings you've made of protected or threatened aquatic species. This information will help I&I NSW better understand and manage these species.

To report a sighting:

  • Either phone: 02 4916 3877 (recorded 24 hour service)
  • Or complete the online form
  • Or email fisheries.threatenedspecies@industry.nsw.gov.au
  • Or download the species sighting form and post it to:
