Performance Data & Insights

The NSW Primary Industries Performance Data & Insights (PDI) is an annual publication that highlights the economic output of the NSW Primary Industries sector each financial year. The PDI reflects the underlying strength and long-term viability of primary industry sectors including:

  • Cropping
  • Livestock
  • Hunting and Recreational Fishing
  • Horticulture
  • Wine Grapes
  • Fisheries
  • Forestry

A combination of cover pages for each topic

The Department of Primary Industries (DPI) monitor and review economic factors throughout the year to provide information to assist in driving economic growth across primary industries with a focus on innovation, improving resilience, productivity, sustainable use of land, access to natural resources, mitigating and managing risks in agricultural communities and maintaining industry confidence.

DPI plays a key role creating stronger primary industries in NSW and will achieve this through a focus across six Strategic Outcomes:

  • Biosecure industries and environment
  • Carbon neutrality and climate resilience
  • Economic growth
  • Food safety and animal welfare
  • Response capacity
  • Sustainable resources and productive landscapes

These Strategic Outcomes set the foundation for DPI to make impactful investments, while delivering on our purpose of maximising outcomes for NSW primary industries, the communities they support and the resources they rely on, both today and for the future.
