Grain farmers can protect their enterprise and remind all visitors to follow farm biosecurity procedures with the right sign hanging on the front gate.
Department of Primary Industries (DPI) NSW Grains Biosecurity Officer, Rachel Taylor-Hukins said to help grain and mixed producers implement farm biosecurity, starting at the front gate, free biosecurity signs are available at AgQuip at DPI/LLS site E-F/16-17.
“It is important that all visitors to farming properties are mindful and respectful of a farmer’s biosecurity procedures, Ms Taylor-Hukins said.
“The unauthorised entry onto a property by people, vehicles and equipment can spread weed seeds, pests and diseases.
“Producers can collect a free sign and learn more about farm biosecurity during AgQuip.”
Ms Taylor-Hukins said grain farmers can collect a free sign and get the latest information to boost farm biosecurity from the Biosecurity Manual for Grain Producers (www.planthealthaustralia.com.au).
“The manual is an important resource that provides producers with suggestions on practical farm biosecurity procedures and how to incorporate them into their everyday activities,” Ms Taylor-Hukins said.
The free biosecurity gate sign and the Biosecurity Manual for Grain Producers are available at agricultural field days or contact Rachel Taylor-Hukins direct on 02 6391 3121.
The National Grains Farm Biosecurity Program is an initiative managed by Plant Health Australia in partnership with Grain Producers Australia and state governments.
