White spot syndrome virus (WSSV) has been detected by the NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI) in wild-caught school prawns (Metapenaeus macleay) from the Richmond River offshore area.

NSW Government to modernise rice sector exporting

The NSW Government announced today it will introduce a Bill to State Parliament to end statutory rice export marketing (‘vesting’) arrangements by 1 July 2025, heralding a new era of greater opportunity and innovation for the rice industry.

Fishing clubs and organisations are being encouraged to host their own ‘Gone Fishing Day’ events as part of the State-wide celebrations on Sunday, October 13, Bryan Van Der Walt, NSW Department of Primary Industries, Program Leader Recreational Fisheries, said today.

Recreational fishers in south-western NSW are gearing up for the annual opening of the Murray Crayfish season on Saturday, 1 June 2024.

Varroa Development Officers give practical help in NSW
