Footrot Steering Committee

Applications are invited from people to join the Footrot Steering Committee.

The Footrot Steering Committee (FSC) was formed in 1988 to develop the NSW Footrot Strategic Plan and assume the role of the ongoing oversight of the footrot program. The Committee provides strategic advice to the Chief Veterinary Officer (CVO) who ultimately has responsibility for the footrot program.

Members will contribute to the strategic direction and improved outcomes for footrot in NSW and will be appointed on the basis of their ability to bring differing perspectives to the Committee for a term of up to three years.

As such we are looking for representation from individuals who can demonstrate:

  • a strategic approach to farming
  • an ability to resolve competing priorities in strategic decision making
  • knowledge about or experience dealing with footrot
  • skill and expertise in any other area considered relevant to fulfil the role of the Committee.

Representation from geographic (farm location) and enterprise (wool or meat orientation) diverse operations will be considered to ensure that the elected representatives broadly represent the NSW sheep industry.

Previous members of the FSC are encouraged to apply as are NSW based members of farming organisations and breed societies.

We value diversity on the Committee and encourage applications from all community groups including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, LGBTI, people with a disability and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

Selection and appointment of members will be undertaken in accordance with the Public Service Commissioner’s Appointment Standards: Boards and Committees in the NSW Public Sector.
