These fish have horizontal stripes running down their upper and middle flanks with a green/blue colouration dorsally fading to a lighter green then silver on the belly. Bonito have moderately large, strong jaws which carry a single row of relatively small, but distinct, conical teeth.
May reach a total length of around 100 cm.
These fish are commonly found in schools in bays, large estuaries and coastal waters of NSW.
Other small tuna and mackerel species such as the Leaping Bonito and Striped Tuna.
