Priorities Action Statement - Actions for human caused climate change (KTP)

Threat Abatement Actions

Community and stakeholder liaison, awareness and education

  • Foster relationships with relevant authorities, research institutes and other States to improve understanding of the impacts of climate change and collaborative management options (Medium priority).

Research / monitoring

  • Undertake research to identify the threatened species, populations and ecological communities most sensitive to human-caused climate change and the nature of the threats. Implement measures to address these threats and include/update relevant documents (e.g. approved recovery and threat abatement plans) (High priority).
  • Monitor the response of biodiversity, particularly threatened species, to climate change and evaluate the success of management actions (High priority).
  • Develop conservation planning tools to model scenarios and effects of climate change on threatened species and their habitats (Medium priority).

Habitat rehabilitation

  • Identify priority areas to undertake habitat rehabilitation for threatened species impacted by climate change (High priority).
