Seeding the future for Sydney Cockles in flood affected estuaries

The NSW Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) have released 110,000 juvenile Sydney Cockles into the Tweed River and Wallis Lake since May in a positive step towards restoring populations in the flood effected regions.

More than 160 teenage fishers and their families will come together today in Sydney’s inner west to celebrate their passion for fishing as part of a NSW Government and TikTok push to get more teenagers involved in angling.

Dutton Trout Hatchery at Ebor has reopened its doors, giving visitors a chance to see how two million trout are produced on site each year to enhance freshwater fishing opportunities across the state.

Fire ants confirmed and treated at a Tweed Heads site

The NSW Government has today confirmed that an immature fire ants nest has been detected and treated on a property site in Tweed Heads.

The NSW Government has announced today it will extend income and other support payments for commercial fishers in the Clarence, Evans and Richmond Rivers affected by the detection White Spot, with assistance of up to $1.34 million.
