Illustration of Bronze orange bug

This is an illustration of Bronze orange bug Musgraveia sulciventris (Stål) (Hemiptera:Tessaratomidae)

Order reference: bronze-orange-bug

A common insect on backyard lemon trees, the name acknowledges the colours of the adult, which is bronze, and the nymphs, which are orange or green. As with the green vegetable bug, Zeck has illustrated all colour forms in the transition from egg to adult with a background showing the insects on their host plant. The one feature that Zeck has been unable to represent in his painting is the foul odour emitted by this insect when disturbed.
