Rust of stone fruit

Summary

Rust is caused by the pathogenic fungus Tranzschelia discolor. If not controlled, a severe infection can cause premature leaf-fall.

Yield from trees infected with rust is considerably reduced. The fruit on trees defoliated before harvest does not mature satisfactorily, with sugar levels remaining low.
