Powdery mildew - a new disease of carrots

Summary

Powdery mildew has been found on a carrot crop in the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area (MIA) of New South Wales.

While the organism causing the disease is commonly found in parsnip crops, powdery mildew has not previously been recorded on carrots in Australia.

At this stage, it has only been found on one property.

The latest outbreak has occurred on several different carrot varieties.

This Primefact gives some preliminary information on the disease, including:

  • cause
