$9 million Seafood Industry Support Package

The NSW Government is delivering critical relief to the State’s commercial fishing, aquaculture and charter boat industries through a $9 million Seafood Industry Support Package.

The State’s seafood sector has been impacted by bushfires in parts of the State, as well as the COVID-19 pandemic. A reduction in travel across the state, the closure of restaurants, logistical difficulties and reduction in tourist trade have all impacted the NSW seafood industry.

The package has been designed so it will directly benefit NSW commercial fishers, the aquaculture industry, fishing cooperatives and the charter boat sector.

The support package includes:

  • $4 million in fee waivers for Commercial Fishers
  • $2.1 million in fee waivers and rent relief for the Aquaculture industry
  • $200,000 in fee waivers for the Charter Boat Fishing Sector
  • $500,000 in rent relief for fishing cooperatives located on Crown land
  • $2.2 million in industry stimulus programs

Fee relief will be automatically waived for industry, there is no need to apply for this. Businesses that have already paid the management charges will receive a credit on their account with the Department of Primary Industries.

If you have questions regarding this fee relief, please contact the DPI Fisheries Business Service on 1300 720 662.
