Lower Murray Darling catchment

The Lower Murray Darling Catchment occupies an area of approximately 6.3 million hectares.

The catchment includes the Willandra Lakes World Heritage Area, Lake Victoria and Menindee Lakes.

Habitats

There are two especially significant areas of aquatic habitat within this region:

  • the lower Murray, and
  • the lowland Darling.
