Land Use Conflict Risk Management

Managing risk in our day-to-day lives is often taken for granted. However, if you live and work where there is imbalance between the environmental, social, cultural, and economic values of different land uses, the risk of conflict can be high and requires focused management.

Land use conflicts occur where a disagreement exists over how land is to be used - where one party’s actions involving land use are perceived as incompatible with the expectations and values of other people living and working in the area.

DPI’s Agricultural Land Use Planning team works with local councils, state agencies, industry, and the community to minimise the risk of land use conflict in rural and peri-urban areas. A new online diploma unit in risk management is now available. Register below or check out some of our other resources for more information on land use conflict risk reduction.
