Eucumbene River – Vehicle management to prevent damage to lake bed
To improve vehicle access to the Eucumbene River at the Denison campground area. The project will construct a car park, install a gate and bollards and erect advisory signage to prevent vehicles from entering and damaging the lake bed, while still maintaining access for recreational fishers.

New high capacity fish cleaning station Port Kembla boat ramp
As part of the NSW Boating Now program, Transport for NSW and RMS have committed $500,000 towards improving the boating experience at the Port Kembla Boat Ramp. This funding will deliver a significant upgrade to the car and trailer parking as well as a new pontoon to improve the safety and accessibility at the site. RMS is requesting funding for a high capacity fish cleaning station to compliment the upgraded facilities.

These funds will contribute to signage, advertising and associated other new initiatives as fisher issues arise.

Develop a system of basic “fishing eco huts” in coastal and inland areas to provide opportunities for anglers to access remote areas for short stays in purpose designed overnight accommodation.

To provide a 4WD vehicle accessway for a length of 20 meters to provide safe access across the soft, unstable foredune for fishermen using their vehicles to access the beach. This vehicle accessway is the only access to the southern end of the 13 km Smokey Beach. The beach is an important and very popular fishing location and is accessed by many local and tourist fishers throughout the year.

Recreational Fishing Access, Saltwater and Freshwater
The Access Fisheries Managers work closely with stakeholders to preserve and enhance long term recreational fishing access, including negotiating with Government agencies, recreational fishing groups and other non-government organisations on behalf of recreational fishers. The role also identifies and facilitates new fishing locations and areas
Fisheries Management Officer (Inland Angler Access)
This role works specifically with the Crown Lands Division on the Crown Land Disposal project with regard to assessment and negotiation of disposals relevant to recreational fishing access. The role undertakes inspections of access sites and works closely with recreational fishing groups to identify key Crown land water access sites.
