Special Native Game Bird Licence Conditions

NSW Game Hunting Licence holders who participate in the Native Game Bird Management Program are subject to special licence conditions. The native game bird conditions are attached to a letter that confirms the licence holder's eligibility to hunt native game birds under the program. These conditions apply in addition to standard licence conditions and other hunting rules.

The conditions were updated in September 2023.

1. Native game bird total licence allocations

The holder of a NSW Game Hunting Licence, who proposes to kill native game birds under the authority of a Native Game Bird Management (Owner/Occupier) Licence, must:

Before your hunt:

a. obtain and record the number and type of native game birds remaining for the Native Game Bird Management (Owner/Occupier) Licence allocation (total licence allocation), in the Native Game Bird Hunter Diary (physical or digital) supplied by the Regulatory Authority no more than 48 hours before commencing your hunt.

After your hunt:

b. record the total number and type of native game birds harvested on each property you hunt in the Native Game Bird Hunter Diary supplied by the Regulatory Authority, before leaving that property.

Finalising your hunt:

c. lodge a return via the online Native Game Bird Management Portal, recording the total number and type of native game birds harvested under the Native Game Bird Management (Owner/Occupier) Licence, within 48 hours of completion of your hunt.
